Ella Dove - How To Roller-Skate with One Leg (KS2 School visits)
The story follows soon-to-be teenager Maya Bright as she navigates her return to school following a car accident and the loss of her leg. When Maya finds a bucket list she made before her accident, she decides she's still going to do everything on it. Full of fun, friendship and family, Maya’s story is uplifting, accessible and full of heart. I’m attaching a press release to tell you more.
Ella’s life changed forever when a freak running accident meant that she had to have her leg amputated at age 25- and now she hopes to inspire a younger generation. Ella’s event will cover her personal story, why she has written a children’s book with an amputee main character and the importance of disability representation in books more generally- as well as fun stuff about the story, her inspiration and how children can write their own stories. Ella is a member of The Speakers Collective and a trustee for the Limbless Association- making her perfectly placed as a speaker on this topic.

How To Roller-Skate with One Leg by Ella Dove
Maya Bright has spent months recovering from a car accident - and the loss of her leg. Now, she's finally going back to school. She can't wait to hang out with her friends again! But to Maya's dismay, her best friend Sophie has ditched her for a group of cool girls .
When Maya finds a bucket list she made before her accident, she decides she's still going to do everything on it.
Some things are easy to tick off, while others - like learning how to roller skate - are more difficult with a prosthetic leg. But the most important thing on the list is throwing an amazing thirteenth birthday party, so Maya can show Sophie what she's missing out on!Uplifting, funny and full of heart, Ella Dove's debut children's book is a celebration of friendship, family and overcoming adversity.
